HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
TO THE ENVIRONMENT
FIRST AID MEASURE
SYMPTOMS AND EFFECTS
Health Effects
No specific data is available for the product for chronic exposure symptoms. Thematerials in this product are not considered to be carcinogenic by the Work safeAustralia lists (October 1991).
ACUTE EFFECTS
Inhalation: The product may be considered to be non toxic
there is no reason to expect that inhalation of the mist will give rise to anyhealth effects.
Data suggests that this product should be classified, as no more than amild transient irritant to the eyes, no long-term effects are likely.
Ingestion: Data suggests that the product should be considered to be non-toxic by
Data suggests that this product should be classified as not irritating orotherwise harmful to the skin. Prolonged and repeated contact mayhowever cause dermatitis due to the defatting effect on the skin. High-pressure accidental injection through the skin requires immediate medicalattention for possible incision, irrigation, and / or debridement.
FIRST AID
Product Inhalation:
The formulated product is a gel. Inhalation is thereforealmost impossible and only mist can be inhaled. If anysymptoms should occur remove the victim to fresh air. Laythe victim down and keep warm and rested. If breathingis shallow, or has stopped, ensure a clear airway and applyresuscitation or oxygen if available. Transport to the nearesthospital or doctor immediately.
Product in eye:
If this product comes in contact with the eyes, hold the eyeopen and flush with running water. Ensure irrigation underthe eyelids by occasionally lifting them. Do no try to removecontact lenses unless trained. If any irritation does occur, consult a medical doctor.
Product Ingestion:
Ingestion of a small amount is not expected to be a problem, however if more than a litre is ingested, do NOT inducevomiting, rather get the victim to drink a glass or two ofwater, and take the victim to a doctor or hospital.
Product on skin:
The product has no effect on the skin in normal use, no firstaid is therefore applicable, merely wash the area with soapand water. Remove contaminated clothing and footwear.
Ensure that contaminated clothing is laundered before usingagain.
Advice to Physician:
Treat symptomatically. Note the nature of this product FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES
Flash point:
EXTINGUISHING MEDIA
Small or large fire:
There is a moderate risk of an explosion from this product if involved in a fire. Intenseheat may cause violent rupture of containers. The decomposition products are toxic.
Decomposition products: Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and water.
Polymerisation:
Stability:
Materials to avoid:
Strong acids, strong bases, strong oxidizing agents.
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Wear protective clothing including facemask, face shield and gauntlets.
Self-contained breathing apparatus should be used.
ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Personal protection:
Wear full protective clothing including facemask, face shield, and gauntlets.
Small spillage:
Shovel into labeled containers for recycle or disposal.
Large spillage:
Stop leak if able to do so and contain the spill. Shovel the
material into labeled containers for recycle or disposal.
Recycle the material, and containers, whenever possible.
After a spil , wash the area, preventing runoff from entering
the drains. Slippery on floors especially when wet.
Environmental precautions:
In the event of a major spill, prevent the spill from entering drains or watercourses.
Dispose only in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Report spills to theappropriate authorities. The material may be suitable for disposal in approved, landfills.
HANDLING AND STORAGE
Handling:
This material has no UN Classification, requires no special handlingrequirements, and is not a scheduled poison.
Storage:
Containers should be kept closed to avoid contamination. Keepaway from extreme heat and open flames. Store away from strongacids, strong bases, and strong oxidising agents.
PERSONAL PROTECTION / EXPOSURE CONTROLS
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE STANDARDS
A time weighted average (TWA) concentration for an 8-hour day and 5-day workingweek has not been established for this product. A TWA of 10mg / m3 is howeverrecommended for inspirable dust and mists when limits have not been otherwiseestablished. The nature of this product makes it unlikely that this level will beapproached in normal use. See ingredients section of this data sheet (paragraph 2).
ENGINEERING CONTROL MEASURES
The hazardous practice of dropping containers from delivery vehicles should beavoided. The correct equipment for handling the containers should be used. Theventilation of the areas used for storage, discharge or dispensing should be as normallyrequired for chemical handling areas. Concentration values below the TWA value(above) should be maintained. Values may be reduced by process modification, use oflocal exhaust ventilation, capturing substances at source, or other methods. If it isbelieved that air borne concentrations of mists, dusts, or vapours are high, it is advisedthat process or environment be modified to reduce the problem.
PERSONAL PROTECTION
Respiratory:
None under normal use. Rubber, PVC, or other protective glovesare desirable if the product is to be used frequently or for extendedperiods None unless splashing is likely to occur e.g. When applying thegrease overhead, when eye protection should be worn PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES
