PRESS RELEASE
28 young scientists from the Québec delegation
Montréal, Thursday, May 16, 2013
– Young Quebecers were rewarded for their excellence this
afternoon in Lethbridge, Alberta, at the awards ceremony capping the 52nd Canada-Wide
Science Fair, the competition that each year welcomes more than 500 budding scientists and
their projects from across the country. Of the 40 members of Québec delegation sponsored by
Merck Canada Inc., 28 earned distinctions in the form of medals, scholarships and special
awards.
Dr. Mauricio Ede, Medical Director, Merck Canada Inc., offered congratulations to the 28 winners
from Québec, citing their virtually boundless ingenuity and creativity, and urging them to
persevere in their scientific careers. “Innovation is at the heart of everything Merck does, and we
feel that our dedication to investing in the next generation of scientists and researchers is a
perfect fit with that vision,” he said. “This Science Fair provides students with invaluable hands-on
experience in scientific research and a glimpse of just how rewarding a career in this exciting field
can be.”
