Dr. A B Anis & Dr. Mrs. Y F Anis Our practice is one of the practices at Golborne Health Centre in Kidglove House. It is a two partner practice with Drs. A. B. Anis and Mrs. Y. F. Anis. Our aim is to provide patients with readily available medical care of the highest standard for the whole family whilst upholding the traditional friendliness of old time GP’s. We feel we are in a very good position to influence the quality of care our patients receive. This leaflet has been designed to tell you about the Practice and the services that we offer. PRACTICE STAFF THE DOCTORS
Dr. Abubaker Anis MBBS 1969 (University of Sindh, Pak) Dr. Anis has a special interest in orthopaedics, rheumatology and minor surgery.
Dr. Mrs. Yasmin Anis MBBS 1969 (University of Sindh, Pak) Mrs. Anis has a special interest in women’s health, psychiatry and preventive medicine. PRACTICE MANAGER (Val Dean) - Val is a very experienced member of the team. She is responsible for the day to day running of the practice and should be able to help you with any queries and suggestions you may have. Val also ensures that the care you receive from Hospitals and other Health Professionals meets the high standards that this practice aspires to.
ADMINISTRATION TEAM (Val Price) - Val is our reception manager who ensures the efficient running and management of the office. Our Administration Team comprises of June, Julie and Irene.

Our reception team comprises of four other staff members who are Val Eaton, Barbara, Julia and Emma. Our receptionists are sympathetic, understanding and efficient. They are trained to deal with patient information in the strictest confidence.
PRACTICE NURSES Kathy and Catherine are fully trained Nursing Sisters who have also trained as Practice Nurses. They are available during surgery hours and conduct numerous clinics for Diabetes, Asthma, Hypertension, Heart Disease, Cervical Cytology (smears) and general issues of health and well being. Advice can be provided on healthy living and smoking cessation. In addition they carry out routine childhood immunisations. We also offer travel vaccinations. COMMUNITY SERVICES STAFF
HEALTH VISITORS Ann Stopford is the Health Visitor attached to our practice and deals particularly with the health needs of children, mums and the elderly. She runs a baby clinic at Golborne clinic where any concerns regarding development can be addressed. Your baby is also weighed and monitored at this clinic.
DISTRICT NURSES Sandra Rutter and her team members are attached to our practice. They are expert in providing nursing care and advice to patients in their homes.
MIDWIVES The midwife runs our Ante-Natal Clinic every Friday between 1.30pm and 3pm.
COUNSELLORS We have one counsellor working with us. Gaynor Isherwood helps people to help themselves. She is a very experienced and sympathetic counsellor. She is there to support you in finding your solution to your own problems or issues. Doctors will refer you to the counsellor, when needed.

APPOINTMENT SYSTEM We have a flexible appointment system at our surgery. If you need urgent medical attention you will always be seen the same day, babies are V.I.P.'s and we try to see them as soon as possible. You can make an appointment by ringing or calling at the surgery during opening hours. However, during busy times there may be a slight delay in answering telephone calls.

Besides routine consultations, doctors also carry out child health surveillance, minor surgery, medicals (HGV/Insurance), postnatal clinic and family planning advice. Extended hours surgeries, on Monday 6-30pm- 7-30pm and Saturday 9am-10am Extended hours surgeries are for the benefit of those patients who are unable to attend surgery during normal hours. Patients must make an appointment.
HOME VISITS
Home visits are offered for seriously ill and infirm patients on medical grounds only. Doctors will decide after full information available if visits are required or not. Please phone as early in the day as possible with full details in order to allow the doctors to assess your medical needs. Please note that lack of transport is not a reason to call the doctor.

If you require urgent medical attention when the surgery is closed please ring 01942 829911. EMERGENCY TIMES ARE BETWEEN 6-30PM TO 8AM FOLLOWING DAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAYS TILL Mon 8 am. Please note that you will be asked to attend the emergency clinic in Ince under most circumstances unless there is a clear medical necessity for the doctor to visit. CERVICAL CYTOLOGY Most smears are done during surgery hours by our Practice Nurses.
BABY CLINIC AND IMMUNISATION We run a well baby clinic, including development assessment between 10am to 12 noon each Wednesday. Please make sure to have your baby weight taken at Golborne Clinic before attending for a 6 weeks development check. Baby immunisation clinics are run by our Practice Nurses every Friday between 11am and 1pm. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT ALL BABIES AND CHILDREN UNDER 5 ARE FULLY IMMUNISED.

TRAVEL VACCINATION
When travelling abroad it is essential to protect yourself from infective diseases. Our nurses offer a full range of travel vaccinations. You can get further information about your vaccination on. OTHER VACCINATIONS These are available from our Practice Nurse for patients travelling abroad or those who need general protection. CHIROPODIST Services are available at local Golborne Clinic.
NEW PATIENTS WE WELCOME YOU AND YOUR FAMILY TO OUR PRACTICE We welcome new patients and their families and invite you to attend for a new patient check so we can get a general picture of your health needs. You will be asked to give details of past medical history together with dates of vaccinations and smears. Please bring a fresh sample of urine in a suitable bottle. You can download the registration form from OUR WEBSITE, print and complete, and bring it with you to register.
COMMENTS/COMPLAINTS We hope that your visit to the medical centre will be as pleasant as possible. If you have any complaints that are not resolved by our reception staff, we have an in house complaints procedure. REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS These are only available on permission from your doctor. 48 hours notice must be given. Please order repeat prescriptions after 10.30am. Please arrange for a responsible ADULT to collect the prescription or you can provide a STAMPED ADDRESSED ENVELOPE and we will post it to you. Prescription requests can also be FAXED 01942 481617 or by EMAIL on Prescriptions are not taken on the telephone unless arranged in special circumstances. You can also make arrangement with the local chemist to have your prescription collected from the surgery.

ADVICE ON MANAGEMENT OF MINOR ILLNESSES Following is some simple advice which will help you to manage minor illness on your own. But if you feel concerned about a symptom because of its severity or duration and you are not sure then you can seek further advice from NHS Direct. on 0845 46 47 or use their website. COUGHS AND COLD It can usually last for a week or two and a cough can last up to four weeks. Symptoms can include green mucous, coughing, fever and feeling unwell, runny nose and sore throat. This is generally due to a viral infection and antibiotics do not help. Generally recommended treatments are paracetamol, ibuprofen, fluid and rest. SORE THROAT AND TONSILLITIS Mostly caused by a viral infection, antibiotics have no place in the treatment. Sore throats can last four to five days. Generally paracetamol and gargling with soluble aspirin are effective. SPRAINS The initial pain and discomfort may last up to a week or so, and some weakness and pain may persist for up to six weeks. It can be treated with a cold compress. DIARRHOEA AND VOMITING It can last two to seven days and can be caused by foods that have been infected by a bacterium or virus. The best treatment is to rest and have lots to drink to avoid dehydration. Anti-diarrhoea medication is not usually needed. CYSTITIS It is common in women. Symptoms are usually pain on passing urine and frequency and may have lower abdominal pain, blood in urine and high temperature. Usually a three day course of antibiotic is sufficient.

The practice will not tolerate violent, abusive behaviour, racial, sexual or verbal harassment. Such action will be reported to police and will result in immediate removal from the premises and the practice list.
CONFIDENTIALITY All our staff has signed a confidentiality clause as part of their contract of employment. You can be sure that anything you discuss with any member of the practice team will stay confidential and nothing will be disclosed to anyone without your permission.
