Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education adopt the 2013-2014 School Calendar, as submitted.
Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the Agreement between the Scotia-Glenville Central School District and H.M.B. Consulting for School Lunch Consulting Services for the 2013-2014 School Year, as submitted.
8. Request for Overnight Field Trip – French Travel Club (French 3 & 4 Classes) to Paris,
and Tours, France -- February 11, 2014 to February 20, 2014
Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the request for the overnight field trip of the Senior High School French Travel Club (French 3 & 4 Classes), and chaperones, to Paris, and Tours, France, February 11, 2014 to February 20, 2014, at no expense to the district. 9. Adopt Qué Hay? (Nelson-Thornes) Spanish Textbook Series
Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education adopt the Qué Hay Spanish textbook series for use by our secondary Spanish students. Superintendent's Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the following list of additional Poll Clerks and Inspectors for the Annual District Election on May 21, 2013: 11. Resolution: Nominate Lynne Lenhardt as Area 7 Director of the New York State
School Boards Association (NYSSBA)
Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the following Resolution: RESOLVED, that the Scotia-Glenvil e Central School District Board of Education nominate
Lynne Lenhardt as Area 7 Director of the New York State School Boards Association for a
two-year term commencing January 1, 2014.
12. Resolution: Accept Gift and Donation from the Scotia-Glenville Education
Foundation to Sacandaga Elementary School
Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the Resolution, dated May 13, 2013, regarding acceptance of a gift and donation of $275 from the Scotia-Glenville Education Foundation to the Sacandaga Elementary School (Kimberly Lavery), the grant award recipient, for the purchase of a dollhouse and sets of families.
13. Resolution: Accept Gift and Donation from the Scotia-Glenville Education Foundation
to the Senior High School
Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the Resolution, dated May 13, 2013, regarding acceptance of a gift and donation of $350 from the Scotia-Glenville Education Foundation to the Senior High School (Janice Tunison), the grant award recipient, for the purchase of two blue microphones. 14. Resolution: Accept Gift and Donation from David Coppola, DDS, of Twenty Lab Coats
to the SG Science Department
Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the Resolution, dated May 13, 2013, regarding acceptance of a gift and donation from David Coppola, DDS, of twenty (20) lab coats to the Science Department, with a total value of $400, for use by our high school and middle school science students.
15. Resolution: Accept and Appropriate the American Dairy Association and Dairy
Council, Inc. and America’s Dairy Farmers Fuel Up to Play 60 Funds Grant to
Glendaal Elementary School

Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the Resolution, dated May 13, 2013, regarding accepting and appropriating the gift and donation of $1500 from the American Dairy Association and Dairy Council, Inc. and America’s Dairy Farmers Fuel Up to Play 60 Funds Grant to Glendaal Elementary School to implement programs to promote healthy eating and physical activity.

a. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education accept the letter of
resignation for retirement purposes of Elaine McCain, Family & Consumer Sciences Teacher (Middle School), effective c.o.b. June 30, 2013, in accordance with the one-time retirement incentive for those members of the Teachers’ Association (SGTA) choosing to retire prior to the start of the 2013-2014 school year (dated April 20, 2013), with appreciation for her service to the district.
b. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education accept the letter of
resignation for retirement purposes of Kathleen Brooks, Teacher of Children With Handicapping Conditions (Senior High School), effective c.o.b. June 30, 2013, in accordance with the one-time retirement incentive for those members of the Teachers’ Association (SGTA) choosing to retire prior to the start of the 2013-2014 school year (dated April 10, 2013), with appreciation for her service to the district.
c. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education accept the letter of
resignation for retirement purposes of Patricia Lair, Typist (Senior High School), effective c.o.b. June 30, 2013, in accordance with the one-time retirement incentive for those members of the Secretarial Association (SGSA) choosing to retire prior to the start of the 2013-2014 school year (dated April 10, 2013), with appreciation for her service to the district.
d. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education accept the letter of
resignation for retirement purposes of Janet M. Neary, Account Clerk Typist (Business Office), effective c.o.b. June 30, 2013, in accordance with the one-time retirement incentive for those members of the Secretarial Association (SGSA) choosing to retire prior to the start of the 2013-2014 school year (dated April 10, 2013), with appreciation for her service to the district.
e. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the request for
an extension of the unpaid leave of absence of Annette Rougeau, Elementary Teacher
(Sacandaga Elementary School) from effective January 1, 2013 through June 30, 2013
to effective January 1, 2013 through January 1, 2014.
f. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the request for
an unpaid leave of absence for childcare purposes of Cily Rueda, Elementary Teacher (Glendaal Elementary School), for the 2013-2014 school year.
g. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education accept the letter of
resignation of Cynthia Peterson, School Monitor (Glendaal Elementary School), effective c.o.b. April 22, 2013.
h. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education accept the letter of
resignation for retirement purposes of Mary P. Flanders, Teacher Aide (Senior High School), effective c.o.b. June 30, 2013, with appreciation for her service to the district.
i. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education accept the letter of
resignation for retirement purposes of Thomas R. McAuliffe, Senior Maintenance Mechanic (Buildings & Grounds), effective c.o.b. May 17, 2013, with appreciation for his service to the district.
j. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the request for
an unpaid leave of absence for personal reasons of Michelle R. Crandall, Teacher Aide (Glen-Worden Elementary School), effective April 30, 2013 through June 30, 2013.
19.Report of Superintendent
a. Staffing
1) Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the
revision to the regular substitute appointment of Brendan Swider as Elementary
Teacher (Sacandaga Elementary School), from effective September 1, 2012 through
April 21, 2013 to effective September 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013, with no change
in current annual salary. Mr. Swider has initial certification.
2) Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the
following additional supplemental appointments for 2012-2013: Drama Club – Senior High School Spring Music Co-Directors Allison Atchley Spring Orchestra Director Allison Atchley 3) Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the change
in assignment of Marilyn Fuller, School Bus Driver (Transportation) from 4.25
hours/day to 4.50 hours/day, effective April 18, 2013 through June 30, 2013, with no
change in current hourly rate of pay.
4) Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the part-
time appointment of Kimberley Unser as School Bus Driver (Transportation), effective April 30, 2013 through June 30, 2013, with 2012-2013 salary to be at the rate of $17.84/hour (Step 1), 4.25 hours/day.
5) Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the part-
time appointment of Joseph Ryan as School Bus Driver (Transportation), effective April 30, 2013 through June 30, 2013, with 2012-2013 salary to be at the rate of $17.84 (Step 1), 3.75 hours/day.
6) Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education terminate the
employment of Josefina King, Cleaner (Senior High School), effective May 1, 2013.
20. Routine Business
a. Placement of Children with Disabilities
1) Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education award the
Cooperative Duplicating Supply Bid for 2013-2014 to W.B. Mason in accordance with specifications and their low bid.
