Multicenter Trials: An acute stroke study in ischemic stroke: A double-blinded, parallel-group,
Management multi-national, multi-center study of the efficacy and safety of an i.v.
neuroprotective agent compared to placebo in patients with acute ischemic
stroke.

A prospective, randomized, multi-center investigation of the safety and
efficacy of a cervical device.
A double-blind, placebo controlled, safety, efficacy and dose response trial of
three intravenous doses of a neuroprotective agent (maxi-K channel
opener) in patients with acute stroke.
Comparison of autograft to a demineralized bone matrix combined with
autograft used in posteriolateral lumbar spinal fusion.
Phase II treatment of adults with newly diagnosed primary malignant
glioblastoma multiforme with Temodar (chemotherapy agent).

Preclinical Development of model for stroke in Sprague-Dawley rats. Determine edema
Research development under different experimental conditions by comparing
Design and histological sections and MRI. This study is in collaboration with Illinois
Management State University Biology Department. There are four master degree
students and five undergraduate students involved in the project.

Development and Evaluation of Terrorism Tabletop Exercises for Rural Counties (IDPH 47101114). This study is a developmental project to prepare tabletop exercises specific for rural counties to assess preparedness for terrorism. The basis of the exercise is a bacterial agent. The Chicago Food System: Diet, Hunger, and Sustainable Agriculture This project is to develop a university course to bring students into Chicago to work with various agencies that provide food and assistance to low income families. Educational Program for Hispanic Patients Diagnosed with Diabetes. This project is in conjunction with the McLean County (Illinois) Department of Public Health IPLAN committee to develop and present six educational sessions to the Hispanic population of McLean County to address the issues of diabetes and nutrition. Health Care Disparities in Rural Areas of IL for Underserved Populations Diagnosed with
Diabetes. This is a grant through the EXPORT project of the University of Illinois Medical
School in Rockford. The project includes three counties and will assess the medical care
provided and the health literacy of underserved populations. This project will involve
Extension and local health departments in the counties.
