Welcome back! I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve as the Acting Director at SPP for the 2013-2014 school year! I began my experience with SPP by working Summer Fun camps over 24 years ago! I am a former high school teacher and assis- tant principal in both Gwinnett and DeKalb Counties. I have two daughters, Grace (an SPP graduate), and Amelia (an SPP pre-k student). I am a former SPP Board chair and MWF 3’s teacher. I truly love the Shallowford community and look forward to an SPP Staff
Our wonderful staff has been hard at work this week setting up their classrooms and Cathy Belville, Asst. Director making plans for the year. The classrooms look wonderful! I am excited to see our re- turning families and look forward to meeting our many new families. There has already been a very large response to our call for volunteers for the new school year. Many of you are new parents and have jumped right in to become involved in your child’s school. If you have not had a chance to choose where you would like to be-come involved, please do not hesitate to stop by the office and we’ll give you a volunteer Christy Foelsch, Storytelling form. There are many different opportunities for volunteering and we always appreciate Thank you so very much for giving us the honor and joy of teaching, encouraging, and, above all, nurturing your children. We do not take this responsibility lightly and will work very hard to make your child’s initial school experiences happy and productive. This year promises to be special and I look forward to the journey with you and your children! During these past three years, SPP has become a second home for me and the wonder- ful people (both big and small) who work, volunteer, and attend school within this build- ing have become my extended family. I will always cherish my memories at SPP and will always hold a special place in my heart for all I have been blessed to know during my I wish SPP all the best this coming school year. Welcome! As a new and exciting school year begins, I'd like to thank you for choosing SPP. Your child(ren) have so many wonderful and new experiences waiting for them. The teachers and staff have been hard at work this summer to ensure that your curious little ones will have the best year yet. This year, I would like to challenge you to be as involved as you are able in your child's pre-school experience. Countless studies have shown positive associations between parental in-volvement and student success, even at the preschool level. Volunteers truly make a differ-ence at SPP. Having such a strong volunteer base allows us to help raise funds, provide sup-port for the teachers, enrich each child's experience and beautify the school. We are fortu-nate to have an active volunteer base and extremely appreciative of the time and effort that is contributed by the amazing SPP parents. From helping in the classroom to fundraising to IT support, there are many, many things that you can do to contribute. Our Volunteer Coordinators are especially focusing on opportunities that working, or just plain busy, parents can do during their free time (I know, who has free time??). Let's all pitch in and continue SPP's strong history of parent involvement. And if you are available during school days, please consider substitute teaching- for a pay-check! Let Tamara or Cullen know if you would like to be added to the list.
